It's a love/hate relationship...

I know I just posted about 2 hours ago, but out of frustration, I had to post again. Several months ago, Clay and I took the plunge into the Mac world. There are so many things I love about the Macbook Pro, but for some reason, the internet is worthless. So, right now I am on our ghetto old laptop so I can actually check my email and stuff. Ok, I am over it. Thanks for letting me vent! (c:

Just because I am on this old computer, here is a picture I'd like to share. It is a photoshop creation that I had fun with!

We are not groupies...

We went to Alexandria this weekend to see a Jerry Jeff Walker concert. People I work with think I am crazy because most of them have no clue who he is. Others think we are groupies. I won't admit that, though. It was a very good concert. His band was there, and he was in a good mood. One guy from the back almost ruined it for us by yelling requests, but thankfully someone shut him up in time. If not, I was about to go back there and take care of it. Kidding.

The rest of our trip was good, too. We took a water taxi from Alexandria to Georgetown to enjoy the sites. Beofre the water taxi, we walked around Old Town Alexandria a bit. They had a great Farmer's Market there. I wish I could have bought more, but I settled on some cherries and hot sauce. Nice combination, huh? We also ate way too much on Saturday. I enjoyed my first experience with Five Guys Hamburgers. Umm...amazing. They pretty much only serve burgers and fries. I was a little disappointed because due to the recent jalapeno issues, they were not serving jalepenos on their burgers. I would have ordered them if I had the option. Oh well...

The weekend ended with a nice drive home, picking up Aggie from the Pet Hotel and a little bike riding/tennis playing. Not sure why I thought it would be a good idea to ride 7 or 8 miles to go play tennis then having to ride it back again! Since then, it has been back to the daily grind of work! I will spare you the details on that, no fear....

Girl's Weekend!

My hubby is out of town for a few days, so that made a great excuse for my mom to come into town for some quality girl's time with her daughter and grand-dog!  Plus, I had a wedding I wanted to go to, and didn't want to go all by myself, so she was my date!  Plus, when I was checking the the hotel website, I saw that pets could stay on the first floor!  So, I cancelled Aggie's reservation at the pet hotel, and she went on an adventure with us.  Minus one little bit if mischief on the way home, she was an ANGEL!  I was very impressed with how well she behaved in the car and in the hotel.

Jason and Tracie's wedding was absolutely beautiful.  (A few pictures below...)  They both were extremely happy and looked like they were having fun.  I know my hubby was sad he couldn't be there, but I am glad I was able to go.

We got back today and did a little shopping before the Cox family came over to visit.  My mom got to meet Kelly, Philip and the boys.  That is about it for now.  We are just relaxing tonight before my mom flies home tomorrow and I have to get back to work.  Weekends go by too fast.  Here are a few pictures I took at the wedding!

Strike 2, Aquarium.

So, after mentioning yesterday that we had sworn off Aquarium, yet we were going back, I had to tell about our meal last night.  First of all, don't go there if you plan on quick service.  It was not what I would call fast pace at all!  Anyway, I had my heart set on some yummy prime rib.  So, I ordered that, done medium.  As we were waiting, I heard someone from the table behind us tell the waitress that his steak was well done, and he had ordered medium.  I felt bad for him, but then she said they would comp the steak, so I didn't feel so bad.  (Plus, it sounded like they knew each other).  Eventually, out comes our meal.  My "medium" prime rib had blackened edges and absolutely no sign of pink inside.  I was not about to send my meal back because, well, it took way too long the first time!  Anyway, so I started eating it, and it had a good flavor, just wasn't like it should have been.  When the waitress came back, I politely told her I was still going to eat it, but I wanted to let her know that my steak was nowhere close to medium.  She mentioned another table had made the same complaint (which I knew due to my eavesdropping habit!).  However, when she came back a little later, she said they would comp HALF my meal.  Why did that man get his steak free and I still had to pay for half of mine?  Is it because she knew them?  Or, was it because I am a girl and ordered the king cut?  (I wanted leftovers!!)  Anyway, after being snubbed at the door last time, this is strike two, Aquarium.  You will be lucky if you even have a chance for strike three.  (PS  Blame this rant on my mystery shopping experiences!!)

On a happier note, I do have a brown dog cuddling with me on the couch.  Oh, and she is snoring away!  Too cute.  Have a great Sunday!!

We went to Wheeling, WV today for a triathlon. It was fun, and we both did well. I can't speak for Clay, but I know I was a little tired from our soccer game last night, so I felt slow. Oh well...not out there to win it all! Tonight, we are going to celebrate this with dinner at Aquarium. Some of the best prime rib I have ever had. We did make reservations this time after the issue we had last time. So much for our vow to never go back - can't resist the food! Here are a few pictures from our morning! (Oh, and one of the princess!)

New Toy...

So, for quite some time now, my Hubby has been wanting a guitar.  Today just felt like the day to go ahead and get one!  So, after work, instead of riding bikes like we had planned, we ventured to the music store.  After Clay tried out a few and I gave my nod of approval on the colors (I am not a big fan of the gold accessories) we had settled on a new guitar!  He's been playing since we got home and seems to like it!

On a totally random note, I made cute cookies for our 4th of July BBQ.  They tasted yummy, too!

Happy 4th of July Eve...

Thank you, Mylan, for a 4 day weekend to celebrate the 4th of July!!  It was so nice to have today off!  We started the morning with a trip to the rec for some swimming and hot tubbing.  Then, we came home and put our fabulous TEXAS brisket on the smoker.  Ahh...what a wonderful smell.  If you haven't heard me complain about this yet, there is absolutely NO BBQ here in Morgantown.  I mean, for Texas Roadhouse to be "the place" to get ribs...not so much.  Also, we used to be able to get brisket at Sam's, but they told us last time that they aren't carrying them anymore.  We did find some at Kroger, but it was a whopping 2.5 pounds and was over $10!!  Ok, I will stop my BBQ rant now.  But, it was wonderful to smell brisket cooking all day long.  It was ready just in time to pull off the smoker before our soccer game this evening.  I won't talk too much about soccer cuz we lost and I don't like to lose.  So, now we are winding down for the evening, and just watching some TV.  Clay laid down on the couch, and Aggie decided she wanted to be super cuddly with him.  (Hence, the picture above!)  So, she has made herself comfortable between him and the back of the couch.  Yes, our 70 lb. lab thinks she is a lap dog.  Gotta love her, though.  By the way, just since I started writing this, they are both out cold!

So, the reason for the brisket is tomorrow we are celebrating the 4th with some fellow Ags here in Morgantown!  We have found a nice little group of Aggies in the area!  Well, that is all I have for now.  Gotta go check on the next adventure on the smoker:  RIBS!  Yummy...
