Connor's first Christmas

I have a lot to catch up on, so bear with me…or just wait for my next post, which should be much shorter!

First of all, Connor celebrated 4 months on the 22nd. We flew to Texas that day to start our Christmas holiday, and he was a champ flying. I was afraid that it was going to be a long day of traveling when we got to the airport because he was not a happy camper. Once he got a fresh diaper and I quit trying to keep him asleep, he was a whole new kiddo, though. He slept through pretty much the whole first flight, then ate, played and slept on the second flight. On the way home from the airport, we stopped at Whataburger for some breakfast. Connor was sitting in my lap and was absolutely staring at my Taquito. It was pretty funny to watch!

Connor and my Grandma were very happy to finally meet each other! We spent the afternoon hanging out, and then went to dinner with my family and Clay’s brother and his fiancĂ©e at Del Pueblo. Yes, there is a theme here: yummy Texas food!

The next morning, we got up and headed up to Waco to see Clay’s parents. Connor usually isn’t a big fan of the car, but he slept the whole way there, so we were happy about that! We had a nice time visiting with Clay’s parents, and Ben and Courtney arrived later that evening. The next day was Christmas Eve! Connor got to meet yet another new face, Clay’s friend from home Jennie. We also got to meet her hubby. They don’t live too far from us, so we talked about planning a roadtrip to meet up some weekend! We had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner, and I stuffed myself yet again. The weather that afternoon turned very cold and windy, and Waco even got a bit of snow, so we opted out on taking the little man out in that weather to church. Instead, we stayed home by the fire and opened presents, and got lots of wonderful things!

Christmas morning, we had a little breakfast with Clay’s family then hit the road again to head back to Conroe for Christmas with my family. First thing we did was take a family picture, because this was the first time my mom had all her kids, kid-in-laws and grandkids together since last Christmas. After that we spent the afternoon opening presents then eating (surprise, surprise) and even had a rather intense game of Jenga!

Sunday Connor got to meet more new people when we went to Natalie’s house to have a little mini-reunion with some of my high school friends. Connor and Sage had their first roadtrip together, and they were both great little guys in the car!

We headed to the airport Monday morning to make our journey back to NC. This story isn’t real exciting, but I thought I would share it in case it could help someone out in their travels someday. Our connection in Charlotte was pretty short – less than an hour. When we checked in in Houston, they told us our flight was delayed, so since our connection was so close, they would re-book us on the later flight (which was 3 hours later than our original connection!) Clay told her he didn’t want her to re-book us, just in case there was a way we could make our connection. We would handle it in Charlotte if we missed it. At this time, she offered to double book us – so she got us seats on the later flight just in case, but didn’t take us off our first flight. Well, apparently we had some good tail winds or our pilots were eager to get to Charlotte for some reason because we made it there quick enough to switch terminals, both use the restroom, change a diaper and still easily make our connection. Well, here is where the lesson is…as we were boarding, we saw a gentlemen from our Houston flight at the desk trying to get back on our Greenville flight. Apparently, they had switched him to the later flight like they tried to do to us, but they did not switch him back to our flight, so he had to sit in the airport for several hours for no reason. No offense to the nice man, but I am glad it was him and not us with a 4 month old! I did feel really bad for him – that would be very annoying!!

Ok, if you stuck with me this long, I am impressed, and you are rewarded with a picture slideshow! Haha...

Coming up next is Connor’s 4 month update…stay tuned!

Over already?

I have lots of things to blog about including Connor's 4 month update and our trip to Texas, but since the little man had a rough day today (compliments of his shots yesterday!), this Mama is tired. Instead, I will leave you with a Christmas picture I took of the cutie!

My Santa Baby

I am really excited to be celebrating Connor's first Christmas. I realize he has absolutely no clue what is going on, but it is still a special time for us. I just love this time of the year! Here are a couple of pictures from today. We went to Kohl's bright and early this morning (he woke me up, so why not go early and beat the crowds, right?!?) He was tuckered out by the time we got home, though.

Then, in the afternoon, we put together some gifts for our neighbors, and Connor was helping me in the kitchen.

Here are a couple of tummy time pictures, too!

PS Blogger is driving me crazy with pictures right now...I had to upload these one at a time!

Really?

No offense, Morgantown, but I am not missing you this weekend!

5 years

Five years ago I married my best friend. I cannot believe how fast 5 years has flown by, yet at the same time, I don't remember life without Clay. We had a wonderful time at our wedding. It was beautiful, yet fun. I looked through my pictures tonight and wanted to post a single picture which I felt represented the night well, and I chose this one. It shows how much fun we were having...I believe we were doing the Chicken Dance at this moment. Clay's half tucked in shirt cracks me up. I love the looks on our faces...intense fun.

Happy Anniversary, my love.

Learned something new!

I love playing with pictures in Photoshop and making things like fun notecards, Christmas cards, etc. I have found some pretty cool websites with free tutorials and even free fonts! I know, I am a dork because I get excited tonight. Well, while Connor was eating tonight, I learned how to do this:

I can't believe it is our 5 year anniversary tomorrow! More on that later...I'm sleepy!

The Look

I debated on if I should post this video or not. The beginning is too cute, but the end kinda breaks my heart. (No fear, nobody gets hurt or anything, but nobody likes an unhappy baby!) A handful of times, I have seen Connor get this look on his face that is just the biggest frown before starting to cry. Some of the times, it has been for no apparent reason at all. This time, he got a little to excited and kinda choked on his spit and got scared. I am sad that I had to see The Look again, but actually kinda glad that it has been captured on camera. I feel like I am rambling, so here is the video:

In other news, Connor met Santa this weekend. He did great and looked super cute if I might say so myself.

3 month notes

I am writing about what Connor is doing at each month not only for the 2.5 people who really want to know, but for myself to be able to go back and remember. It will also help me fill in baby books / calendars when I get around to them! (c: Our third month was a big one. Connor is such a happy little baby. He is becoming more predictable, although I can't really say we have much of a set schedule yet. He has been doing well sleeping at night - typically going to be 9:00 - 9:30 and waking up 5:30 - 6:00. (I do have to say this week, though, we have been up at 4 am several times for some reason - growth spurt??) I can tell when he is getting tired and ready for a nap, and am getting better at getting him to sleep before he gets to his "fight the nap" stage.

As you have seen, he took his first plane trip, first trip to Texas and met tons of new people. And he handled it all great! Besides that trip, probably the biggest event of month three was me going back to work. I tried to blog about it a couple of times, but at the time, I was way too emotional about it. I was torn - I was so happy to be getting back into the swing of things with work (it's nice that I love my job!!), but it broke my heart not to get to spend every day with the little man. I am at ease knowing he is in wonderful hands, and he is right across the street. Now that we are through two (short) weeks, I can say it gets a little easier to leave him, but is still by no means easy. I go get him at lunch every day to feed him, though, so I know I am spoiled with my set up.

Other things are that he smiles constantly, rolled over (it was only once, so I don't really count it, but still fun to note), started playing with his feet occasionally, and will sometimes gives me a good laugh. I am really enjoying this time: he is old enough that he will play on his mat or one of his chairs for some time by himself, but he isn't moving anywhere yet, so I don't have to worry about him getting into anything! He loves his bumbo and everything goes into his mouth! He is constantly sucking on his hands (sometimes his entire fist) or trying to put any toy in his mouth. Just check out the progression of his three month photo shoot....

Now that his first Thanksgiving has come and gone, we are looking forward to his first Christmas!

Texas trip part 3: Friends!

Alright, while Connor is snoozing and the house is quiet, I think I will knock out part three on the Texas trip recap! I'll go in chronological order...

After the families all left, it was time for Connor to meet some friends! Keri, Sage and her mom were supposed to come up Monday morning, but they were a little under the weather, so we had to postpone. However, the afternoon was filled with a visit from Kelly and Garrett. This little guy is about a year older than Connor and way too cute. I have loved watching him grow from afar via his mommy's blog. I have gotten to see him a couple times, the first being last Christmas. He is still as cute as ever!! Kelly and I have been good friends since we met at A&M playing club soccer. I can always count on her for a good laugh or for just a good conversation. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding, and we were lucky enough to get to travel to Mexico so I could be a part of her wedding as well. She just has a heart of gold, and I was glad we were able to get together so she could meet Connor!!

By Wednesday, Keri and Sage were feeling better, so we were happy that we were able to see them! Keri's mom was busy that day, so Jessica and Colt took a road trip with them to come see us. I am glad Jessica and Colt were able to join...it was fun to get all the boys together! Keri is one of my oldest and dearest friends. Memories with her and her family go way back to the early days. From playing London Bridge to looking for Lizards to Cotillion...there are many fun memories with Keri. She is one of those friends who I know I can always count on and even if it has been a while since we had talked or seen each other, it wouldn't feel like it when we did! It has been fun to share some of our pregnancy time together, even if from afar. I was so excited to meet Sage, even though I truly felt like I knew him from his mommy's blog! He is absolutely precious, and I love his big blue eyes and beautiful smile. This kid will be a heartbreaker one day!

(Colt: 9 mos - Sage: 6 mos - Connor: 10 weeks)

(I stole this one from Keri, but I love it!)

Brad and Deanna also came in from Corpus Wednesday! I know they were happy to see me and Connor, but I think they were a little sad that Clay couldn't be there as well. )c: But, I was so glad they were able to make the trip in to meet the little man. Brad and Deanna are special friends to us. The four of us hung out before Clay and I started dating, and we have had some good times together! (c: It makes us sad that we do not live closer to them, but maybe some day? These two are the ones responsible for the Texas Soil that Connor was born over. They know our pride for Texas! (c: Brad brought it the weekend that he came to visit Clay when I went to Morgantown for work and a baby shower, where Deanna and my mom surprised me by showing up!

There were other special people that we would have loved to see, but time was limited, and being there during the week didn't help with work, either. It was a GREAT trip, and I am glad we could take Connor home! We are looking forward to heading back for Christmas!

Houston with family

Part two of three on our Texas recap! (Nothing like finishing up an overdue blog almost a month late!)

Sunday morning, Connor and I flew into Houston while Clay headed back to NC to work and get Miss Aggie from the "puppy hotel" as I like to call it. We arrived in Houston without a problem and headed out to Conroe to meet more people. My Dad's parents came in from Iowa, Brian and Sable came in from Corpus and Barry and crew came from Lakewood. (My mom's mom will be in for Christmas and get to meet him then!) We had a nice afternoon hanging out and enjoying some beautiful weather at the lake. By this time, all the traveling was catching up with him and he slept a lot the first day or so we were there. My grandparents left on Monday morning, but have no fear, there were many others ready and waiting to meet the little man! More to come on meeting friends in the next post, but for now, here are some pictures from meeting the family!

3 months!

I can't believe my little guy is three months today! (It is about 20 minutes from his actual birth time!) Anyway, I will do a post in the next couple of days documenting his third month (as well as finish my trip to Texas posts!), but for now, how is this for fun news? I don't think this is a regular thing yet, but Connor was playing on his tummy last night and he rolled over! He got to his side and got a little stuck, so I grabbed my camera and caught the rest of it! (Then there is another little tummy time clip, too.) It was so fun to watch!

Feet?

I think Connor has discovered his feet! I noticed him playing with them several times tonight! (Yes, Grandmas, I will try to get a video for you soon...)

We are adjusting to life with me working again. The first week hasn't been so bad, but I don't have as much down time as I did with him around. (Can we start nap time at work?!?!) Hooray for Friday tomorrow...!

I'll leave you with this picture I took recently. For some reason, I just love it! He loves his mobile these days, and I feel like this picture captures his awe of it. Enjoy!

Lubbock/La Mesa/Welch

I have a lot to re-cap from our recent trip to Texas, so I will do so in chronological order. I hope to capture everything, but I apologize if I miss something!

We started out on Friday morning, headed to Lubbock to see Clay's family. It was a long day of traveling, but Connor did GREAT!! Connor got to meet TONS of people, and I even got to meet a few family members I had not yet met. We enjoyed visiting with everyone and just hanging out with the little man. On Saturday, we spent the day hanging out in Lubbock with Bobby's side of the family before heading out to La Mesa to see Debbie's side of the family. We had dinner to celebrate Papa's (Debbie's dad) 80th birthday! The food was delicious, and the company was great. After dinner, we went to Honey's (Debbie's sister) to have birthday cake and more visiting. Oh, and we even had blue bell with cake...YUM! By this time, the little man was tuckered out. He made it through a few more rounds of pictures, but was soon ready to eat and pass out. We had a late night followed by a very early morning. This is where Clay and I split ways, an I was on my own flying with the little man to Houston. Once again, he was awesome!! More about Houston later...for now, here are some pics from the first part of out trip!

Slacker!

Well, I know I am SLOW on updating this with our Texas trip, but to be honest, my priority this week has been enjoying my last week of maternity leave with the little guy. Plus, with Clay out of town for work, by the end of the night, I didn't want to do much of anything but relax! Oh, and the lazy rainy weather hasn't helped! But, enough excuses...I'll try my best to get it done this weekend. In the meantime, look what my sweet hubby put up for me tonight...

Oh, and please don't judge me because my son is already wearing his Christmas jammies. It was a one time thing (until after Thanksgiving) in honor of putting the tree up! (c:

Good morning, Sunshine!

I haven't gotten to my trip summary blogs yet, but I thought I'd share this recent video of my little sunshine waking up the morning after we got back. He slept 11 hours that night, which his Mama loved! Maybe he can keep up that trend? (c: I love it when he wakes up so happy...

We're back!

With a little help from my mom, Connor and I made it safely back to NC on Thursday. Connor was once again an amazing traveler! He fell asleep almost as soon as we got on the plane in Houston and slept most of the flight. Once he woke up, he ate until we landed! He made me so proud. I have lots of blogging to catch up on, so be prepared for some trip wrap ups in the near future. For now, though, I am going to enjoy a lazy Saturday morning with the family!

First flight!

Connor was a rock star on all three flights today! I could not have been happier. I am exhausted, though, so just gonna post a pic of us and the sleeping little man on one of the flights today!
