Almost Done!

Well, we spent another afternoon painting! We are far enough along that I'll post a picture now...the chair rail needs to be hung tomorrow, but you can get the idea.

I'll post more of the in-process pics later....I'm too tired to do it now!

PS By the way...the wall is chocolate brown halfway up, then stripes...the brown isn't the floor! (c:

First Painting Experience...

Well, Clay and I spent the afternoon painting Connor's nursery. This was our first painting experience, and I must say I am proud we are still speaking. (c: Actually, it went very smoothly and I am very pleased with the results so far. I initially thought of doing something neutral just incase we wanted to sell our house in the next couple of years, but I was never completely sold on the color I had picked out. Last night, I played around online a bit and got some other ideas and came up with something totally different. I absolutely love how it has turned out so far!! I was thinking about posting a teaser picture, but I decided that you are just going to have to wait! We'll hopefully finish up most of it tomorrow, so check back! For now, I am going to sit on the couch the rest of the night and watch a movie with my hubby and brown dog!

Morgantown Shower Pictures...

Thanks to Kelly for sharing the pictures taken with her camera at the shower in Morgantown!

The girls did a super cute job tying in nursery rhymes to the entire theme! Loved it!

Catching up!

The last four weeks or so have been busy, and I feel like I have been a slacker at blogging. So, where to start? I am going to keep this as short and sweet as possible....

Shortly after returning from my trip to Puerto Rico and Houston, Clay's parents came to visit. We had a nice week with them and they got to explore a little bit of Eastern North Carolina. The day they left, Brad arrived to keep Clay company since I was leaving town. I headed to Morgantown early that Saturday morning. I was happy when I got my rental car and noticed it had Texas license plates. I know, it's the little things in life that make me happy. (c: Anyway, I stopped by the hotel and got a quick shower before heading up to Cooper's Rock for my baby shower. The girls made me feel like a dork posing on this big rock for pictures. Little did I know that my mom and Deanna were hiding behind the rock waiting to surprise me! I am proud of all those great girls for pulling off a fun surprise. It was a special afternoon, and I am truly blessed with some wonderful friends for doing that for me!! (I am trying to upload a picasa slideshow of Kelly's pictures from the shower, but it isn't cooperating, so I will keep trying!)

The work week went by fast in Morgantown. It was weird to be back in the office, but I enjoyed seeing everyone. I also got to see several friends each evening, which was fun. I even finally got to meet all the new animals that our friends Max and Janie now have!

Friday night, I was more than ready to be home and have a little bit of a break. Clay had other plans in mind, though, and planned a BBQ for Saturday. So, relaxation was delayed by a day! We had a great time, though, with ribs, brisket and turkey all done on the new smoker. Yummy...I have to give my Hubby props for having the house pretty much ready for company when I got home. On Sunday, we had a lunch to go to after church, so we got up early to make cupcakes to take. Let's just say I crashed Sunday afternoon when we got home. It was a rainy afternoon and perfect for an afternoon nap! Here is a picture of the ribs smoking away...

This week, I am just settling back into normalcy. I am looking forward to the three day weekend coming up! We are even planning to tackle the nursery, and I have been looking online at "pick your own" farms. I have never been to one, so we might check one of those out this weekend, too!

Well, that is all for now. I'll try to be a better blogger again. Before I leave, here is a belly picture from last Saturday, which was ~27 weeks!

Home Sweet Home!

I am too tired to write much, but I am back from Morgantown. My month of craziness is pretty much over! We are having some friends over for a BBQ tomorrow, which I am looking forward to...ribs, brisket, turkey, k-bobs...yeah, we have a tendency to cook too much when having people over! (c: Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

More about my trip later...I am gonna watch TV with my hubby and dog, and probably fall asleep early!

Double Digits!!

Not only was yesterday Cinco de Mayo, we crossed the line in our countdown to being in double digits until Connor's due date! Yipee! We attempted to eat some Mexican food for dinner last night to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, but after they told us "10 more minutes" for about the 5th time in an hour, we decided to go elsewhere. We should have known, but oh well. We had a delicious dinner elsewhere, so it worked out.

Well, I am off to work! Have a good one!

Not feeling so creative on today's title, so Sunday it is. As a follow up to my last post, the brisket we had yesterday was AMAZING. My hubby did a great job!! I am embarrassed to say how much of it the 5 of us ate, so we'll just skip that part. I think everyone enjoyed it, though!

Yesterday, we took Clay's parents on the grand tour of Greenville. This doesn't take long, believe me. We also hit up the Farmer's Market in the morning, hoping to get some habanero plants to add to our garden. Unfortunately, they still aren't ready, but the guys said he should have them next week. He seemed shocked when we asked about these and questioned what we use them for. We told him that no, we don't just eat them whole, but we do like to use them in recipes to spice things up a bit. He seemed impressed. Thankfully, so far, Connor has tolerated spicy food well, and my doctor said spice is fine as long as I can tolerate it. Yipee!

This afternoon, I am just trying to get some stuff done around the house and preparing for another busy week. I leave for Morgantown early Saturday morning, and I am super excited to see all my friends there. I cannot believe it has been 5 months since we moved! Crazy...well, here is an updated picture from yesterday. (This was taken BEFORE the large meal of briskets, potatoes, etc!)

Here is a picture of Miss Aggie...just because I thought it was a cute picture!

We be smokin'

So, I brought a little bit of Texas back to NC with me last week. We went to HEB and got a 13 pound brisket, which I then carried on the airplane with me. (Thank goodness I had a rolling suitcase!!) The brisket from HEB was $1.63/lb, and the cheapest one we have seen here is $3.99/lb...and the size just doesn't compare, either! Anyway, we decided to start it tonight because we were worried it would take a while to smoke in our new smoker. Here are some pictures of getting it started:

I'll let you know tomorrow how it turns out!

PS Aggie must be exhausted...she is snoring away right now!!
