Five Months already?!?

Wow...I cannot believe this little guy joined us a whole 5 months ago! It seems like it has flown by, yet I don't remember life before him. This month has been a big month for our little guy. First, just a few short days after Christmas, Connor perfected rolling from him back to his belly. When he first started this, he was not a big fan of being on his belly, so it was constant: roll over, mommy helps flip him back, roll over, mommy helps flip him back...you get the idea. Anyway, after ending up on his belly a lot, he started getting used to it and now enjoys his tummy time. He will also spend some time sitting up on his own. He is still very shaky and cannot get into sitting position himself, but he can balance himself for quite some time. And, he has also started pulling himself up on his knees into crawling position. He will usually rock back and forth a couple of times then go back to his belly. We may have an early crawler on our hands. He hasn't shown much interest in being in a standing position, other than hanging out in his exersaucer. He still goes to big church service with us, but has gone to to the nursery a couple of times during Sunday school. The first week he did great. The second was a different story, and he had a rough time. This was hard on his mama, too...broke my heart!

A few other things going on...
-everything still goes in his mouth
-loving bath time
-loves to pull off his socks
-usually eats 5-6 times a day (1 tbsp of rice cereal before bed)
-bed time has been getting earlier. It was 9-9:30, but a couple of times he has gone down at 8, and last night he fell asleep at 6:45! We were up once last night, but he went back to sleep until 6. I think he missed his rice cereal last night!
-loves to pull my hair (no fun!)
-loves hanging out with Julie and her boys

That is all I can think of for now. He is such a little happy baby, and likes to flirt with ladies! Here are a few pictures from today...you will notice that the sign isn't working out so well these days!

Guess who has a....

...PASSPORT!!

This is a classic passport picture if you ask me...I love it!

In other news, the little man is 5 months today, so I will try to get his 5 month update and pictures done tonight...it has been a big month!

gross!!!

so, tonight we had a bit of a family date night for some mexican food. first of all, connor was excellent during dinner. he was tired and ready to go by the end, but that was because everything took way too long! so, if you are a waiter/waitress, let me give you this bit of advice...parents with infants would appreciate you at least half way trying to get them in and out as quickly as possible, especially when bed time is fast approaching. oh well, nothing a few rounds of patty cake won't fix!

now for the gross part...clay had finished his glass of water, so one of the waiters took it to refill it. when he brought it back, clay took a sip, then got a puzzled look on his face and said "i don't think this was my cup. in fact, i know it wasn't...i didn't have a straw." yes, he said this right after taking a sip...from the straw! YUCK! A guy came over from the table behind us and asked if we has gotten the wrong drink back. it was too late! sadly, when we told the waiter this, he wasn't all that apologetic. i was hoping for a free dessert or something!!

well, i'll end on a good note with a pic of the little man...

bath time fun!

Bath time used to be dreaded at our house. Connor was not a big fan of the bath, and getting him out of it was even worse. However, I think the original bath we has was not comfortable for him. I didn't like it either because I never felt he was that secure. So, a month or so (heck, maybe 6 weeks? I don't remember!), I bought him a new bath. What a difference that made! Now he LOVES his baths! The getting out fussing still happens some, but now I think it is more because he is sad his bath is over! Anyway, I took a couple of pictures tonight:

In other news, as I am typing this, Connor is working on his rolling over. He has had the back to belly down pat since Christmas time, but he has been experimenting with the belly to back now. He has done it about once a day for the past few days. Just now, I laid him down in the middle of his mat, and he rolled three times to get closer to his little Baby Einstein aquarium. Ahh...the immobile days are leaving us! We are also working on our sitting skills...

Well, happy Friday to you!!

Waiting for Daddy

Clay usually calls in the evenings when he is on his way home. Aggie has either picked up on that or something I say when talking to him, and she starts to get excited and looking out the window waiting for him. The other night, she sat waiting patiently by the door...I couldn't resist taking a picture:

My kiddos love their Daddy! (So do I!)

Rice Cereal

Well, no doubt this child fits into our family...he is a good eater...he loved his rice cereal! He would grab my hand as I was bringing the spoon close to his mouth as if to help me feed him. He did really well...I think he did better eating than I did feeding him! Anyway, Daddy took some pictures, so I thought I would share a few:

He slept great that night!!

4 months...a little late!

I am way overdue with Connor's 4 month post, but I didn't want to skip it all together. This will be short, though, because the big things I am thinking of have happened since the 22nd! As mentioned in my (long) Christmas post, we traveled back to Texas on his 4 month birthday. He was a rock star once again. I am enjoying this while it lasts! (c:

Anyway, back to his updates, in bullet form this time:

-Has become way more animated and vocal.
-Loves to smile and laugh and seems to be ticklish.
-Enjoys hanging out in his exersaucer.
-So close to rolling over (cheater note: since then, he has perfected the back to front)
-Doing much better at tummy time - will push self up into a modified push up, or what I call the seal position. His legs get moving, too, in the crawling motion.
-Typically eats 6 times a day (two of those are bottles at Julie's during the week) His eating schedule is pretty much standard: nurses when we wakes up (usually from 6 to 7), bottle at 9:30, comes home for lunch at 12:30, bottle at 3:30, nurses at 6:15-6:30 then again at 9 before bed.
-Still doesn't have a regular nap schedule, but in general, he takes one morning and one afternoon nap at Julie's. Often there will be an extra power nap in there...either in the morning or in the evening.
-Wearing mostly 6 month clothes
-Oh yeah...Doctor stats (as of 12/29): 18 lbs, 8 oz. This puts him in the 94th percentile for weight. Now, the length measurement we believe is way off. The nurse measured him at 25 inches, which is just one inch longer than 2 months, and puts him in the 45th percentile for height. Before the doctor came in, Clay and I both said we didn't think that was right, then without us mentioning anything, the doctor said the same thing. I measured him laying on this blanket we have that has squares on it, and he was closer to 26.5 inches when I measured. I don't think he is that disproportionate that he would be in such different percentiles for height and weight. Guess we'll have to see at 6 months!
-Grasps toys very well, and his eyes get really big when you hold one out in front of him. He will then reach out and grab it with both hands.
-Loves toys that talk...especially his "Rock a by Baby" book! It soothes him 98% of the time he is upset. I play it in the car a lot because he is not a fan of being in the car!
-Still chews on EVERYTHING and loves playing with his feet. They haven't made it to his mouth yet, but should soon!

OK, that is all I can think of for now. We'll finish off with a 4 month picture...

misleading

Look at the picture of an ad from Babies R Us and see if you can figure out why it bothers me...

The items they picture are listed as being excluded...annoying!

Happy New Year, though!! We just relaxed at home to ring in the new year. Unfortunately, Connor and I were up celebrating with the west coast! Not sure why he has been getting up at night the past several days, but we may try giving him some rice cereal before bed to see that helps. I don't know if he is just getting hungry. It started when we were in Conroe, so I blamed it on just being away from home/a bit off schedule. Then, when we got home, he got his shots, which didn't help. So, is he waking up because he is a growing boy and not getting enough to eat before bed, or did he form a habit after doing it from being away from home? He has been eating and going back to sleep for the rest of the night, so we'll try rice cereal and see how that goes! All I know is that I was spoiled with him sleeping through, and I miss it!!

I know that picture was in the slideshow on my last post, but I just love it!
