Grandma's visit!!

Clay went to Houston last weekend for his brother's bachelor party. My mom took advantage of me and Connor being home alone and came to town for a very quick visit. She got into town Friday afternoon and left early Sunday, so it truly was a short trip. But, we had a nice time, and made the most of the time we had. Connor showed off his crawling skills and we had some good laughs at dinner playing with a straw! Below are a few pictures from the weekend...I didn't include some of the cute ones because she didn't want any jammies pics posted! (c: Oh, and notice in the first picture that the book has slobber on the mirror. Connor has started giving kisses to the baby! Too cute...

7 month update...a few days late!

Month 7 was another big one. As you saw here, probably the biggest event was becoming a mobile baby! Connor started crawling this month. He has gotten a lot better since that video, by the way! At first, he would only crawl for things he couldn't have: Aggie's toys, electrical cords and the stack of magazines under our coffee table. The past week or so, though, he has become more adventuresome and crawling to explore. He still crawls fastest for those things he can't have, though! We also finally sprouted tooth number two a few days shy of turning 7 months. This one had been right there for so long! Earlier in the month, we mastered getting ourselves from belly to sitting position. He was so proud of himself when he did it, too!

This month we started (and loved) following solids: carrots, peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, squash, apples bananas. The only two that weren't huge hits right away were pears and avocado. We'll have to try those again a little later!

He has settled into quite a good routine over at Julies, but we usually end up thrown off on the weekends. I don't know...I think she has some magical touch when it comes to nap time!! He sleeps great over there, but is not a fan of napping on the weekends. I think he is just so excited to be with his mommy that he doesn't want to miss out. That's what I tell myself anyway!

I'll leave you with the traditional 7 month sign pictures. These are getting harder each month as he doesn't want to sit still and he likes to eat the sign. Oh well! (c:

Happy 7 months to my baby boy!! Update post tomorrow...I'm going to bed! (c:

For now, though, here is a picture of him in his traditional Indian dress. More on that later, too....

Family 5K!

Today has been a big day for the little man. First of all, I am officially declaring that his second tooth FINALLY came in! It has been right there for quite a while now, but I can see it and feel it. In other news, we ran our first 5K with Connor today. (Note: I feel guilty using the word "family" in my title since Aggie wasn't with us...) Anyway, we signed up on a whim last weekend to do the 5K this weekend. We knew we could do it, so why not help out a charity at the same time, right? This was the first time in I don't know how long that I have gotten to run with my Hubby. We used to go together all the time, but now we divide on conquer...I take Connor with me and he takes Aggie with him. We haven't tried running the four of us yet, mainly due to schedules. (i.e. When he will be ready to run, Connor will be ready to eat...) I started out with the stroller and let Clay take over part way. Here are a few pictures from the morning:

Tonight, we are just laying low. Connor has a bit of a cough that tends to flare up the most when he is sleeping. In general, though, he has been his happy little self, so we'll just keep an eye on him for now! Hope you have had a great Saturday!!

Mama Deb comes to town!

Last week, Mama Deb (Clay's mom) came to visit us. We all know she was really there to see Connor, but I guess we were just an added bonus? (c: They had a great time playing together, and I think Connor enjoyed his special afternoons with her! He showed off his new crawling skills, and got faster in the time that she was here. He is particularly fond of going after Aggie's toys and electrical cords. Guess they learn early what they can't have and thus want? He is still a little goofy in his crawl, but it gets him where he wants to go. Here are some pictures from our fun weekend!!

Challenge Accepted

My friend Keri has started a weight loss challenge. I will be the first to admit that I was in better shape 9 months pregnant than I am right now. Connor was less time consuming when he was in my belly, but that is no excuse! I think my biggest struggle is that as a working mommy, the last thing I want to do when I pick my little man up from Julie's is leave him to go work out. It has been too cold and getting too dark early to take him with me, but that issue should be coming to an end soon!

So, there isn't really a number I want to see on the scale. I just want to feel better. I love the feeling I get from a good run or ride or any work out for that matter. If you have been looking for some motivation, go check out her blog and join the challenge. Best of all, you have the opportunity to win a $100 donation for your favorite charity!! You have a couple more days to email her to join in! Oh, and I do have a little more shame than her...I won't be posting my before or after numbers! Haha...I will share my percentage, though! Also, I am looking for a race to do this spring. We did a couple of triathlons before we moved here, and I would love to do that again. However, there isn't really a good place for me to go swim, but I did find a biathlon in April that I am going to look into doing! I have a really nice bike, so I need to put it to good use.

Tonight, Connor and I went on a run after work. It wasn't fast, but it felt good to be out, and I LOVE my BOB Revolution. For all you mommies-to-be, take a look at this. It is a little expensive, but it is the only stroller we have. It is a little big, but I feel like it is a must-have for active couples! You can buy an attachment piece that will let you use your Graco infant carrier with the stroller. (It is NOT compatible with the Chicco...just so you know! I took my Chicco back so I could get a Graco that was compatible!) Oh, and last year sometime around May, REI had these for sale 20% off. I wasn't ready to commit at the time, and I wanted to kick myself once I finally decided to get it for missing the sale. My next challenge will be taking Aggie with us!

So, go take your pictures, email Keri and join the challenge!!

Need a blog makeover?

Good morning, friends! Connor is bouncing away in his jumperoo, so I wanted to take a quick minute to blog about a giveaway!

Marina at Penny Lane Designs teamed up with Buggie and Jellybean to give away not one, but TWO blog make overs. One is a custom design and one is a pre-fab layout. Either would be great, as Marina is very talented. Oh, and she has a cutie named Owen who is about Connor's age, which is how we became friends in blogger world! (c: So, go check out all the links above, but HURRY because the giveaway ends today!

Happy Monday...it's going to be a busy week for me, but come back to check out another contest I will fill you in on!

What a weekend!!

We had a nice little weekend here at the Caswell house! Friday evening, some of our good friends, Kelly and Philip Cox (aka "The Coxi") came to visit all the way from Morgantown. They got tickets to the Duke/UNC basketball game in Durham, and neither of us could stand to be that close and not get to see each other! Plus, Kelly hadn't met my little man yet!! We stayed in on Friday night, had some lasagna and wine and just caught up and hung out. We had a great time, and it was nice to see my good friend, again. We love visitors, so I hope everyone knows we have an open door anytime you are in the area!

Saturday morning, the Coxi hit the road early to get to RDU. Daddy went to work for a bit, and Connor and I ran a few errands in town then hung out at the house. When Clay got home, we decided to go rent a movie for the evening. We got Couple's Retreat, which was kinda funny, but a bit disappointing.

This morning, we headed to church then to Panera with some new friends of ours. It was a BEAUTIFUL day, so we went to the park to take a walk this afternoon. The whole family loved it. I think Aggie especially appreciated some outdoor time without a fence. (She would have liked it better without a leash, but we'll take what we can get!) We ended the evening with burgers on the grill. It was a nice way to start the spring season. At least that is what I am telling myself because I am ready to say good bye to the winter weather and hello to spring!!

I noticed as I was looking through my pictures from this weekend, I have several of Aggie and Connor together. I think they are growing quite fond of each other...it's pretty cute!

{warning: picture overload!}

While we don't have a crawler yet, we definitely have a mover! Connor started out in the middle of that blanket and made his way over to under his swing. He was kinda out of room from there!

Meeting Kelly and helping her post a picture on facebook!

Connor got tuckered out cheering on Aggie basketball Saturday afternoon! His sister decided to nap with him!

This picture is very bad quality, but I loved the way Connor was looking at Aggie!

Connor loves to hold something in his mouth while playing with another toy. The first time he did this, I thought the linkadoo was stuck in his mouth!

Before our walk. Looks like they were planning an escape!

Aggie did get some off leash time in an out of the way field. She was in Heaven!

The Swamp Forest...the reflections were pretty cool!

Hope you had a nice weekend!!
