Catching up!

The past couple of weeks have been CRAZY!! From Connor's first fever to grandparents coming in town, to birthday party and Baptism...and that was all in one week! Then, we had a trip to Iowa this past weekend, so be looking for many new posts in the near future! For now, I'll leave you with the teaser picture Heather posted of the little man's birthday photoshoot!

Happy Birthday!!

Dear Connor,

What a year! You have brought your mommy and daddy so much joy and happiness. You are such a happy little kiddo, and you make our hearts melt each and every day. You crack yourself up, which makes us laugh, too. You have taught us patience and how to take joy in the littlest things.

I wish I could slow time down. This year has flown by way too quickly. Someone once told me "the days and nights are long, but the years are short" and I believe that wholeheartedly!

Here are some of the things you are up to these still LOVE being outside. That make Mommy, Daddy and Aggie very happy. Speaking of Aggie, you love her too. When you were not feeling well just before your birthday, you would go over to Aggie and just lay your head on her. So sweet. You are sleeping really well (7-6ish) and have been working on dropping your morning nap. This has been your choice! We have been struggling with you drinking milk out of a sippy cup. You love it from a bottle (Mommy gave in and let you have it from a bottle), so we'll have to work on that. You are starting to say a few words: ball, hat, balloons (sounds kinda like boons), bubbles (bub-bubs), Aggie (well, just the "A" part, but you always say it referencing her). You have a bit of a mischievous streak, and you think it is hilarious when you do something that you know/think you shouldn't be going. You totally get that from daddy!! (c:

Thanks, buddy for such a good year and making Mommy and Daddy so happy. We love you more than you can imagine!

Love, Mommy

(I totally dated this on his bday, even though it was written later!!)

I think this is a pretty cool picture of a grasshopper....

...until I remember it was taken here... my KITCHEN! Not sure how that happened, but thankfully he was relocated outside where he belongs!

We tried to go to dinner Friday night. We didn't make it through salads before we decided that we didn't want to ruin everyone else's evening out with our unhappy child. At first I was thinking he wasn't feeling good. That may have been part of it, but I really think he did not like being in the middle of a crowded room with all these people around him. We were at Olive Garden, and it was a big room with tables so close that I could steal a breadstick from the table next to me without even getting up! I knew it wasn't going to be good when Connor was refusing food. That NEVER happens!! As soon as Clay took him outside, he was perfectly happy. So, I asked our kind waiter to change our order to be a to-go order, scarfed down my salad and we went and ate at a park instead. It was MUCH nicer. Connor was happy and enjoyed his ravioli. I have to say, though, that even though we didn't eat there, I was overall disappointed in Olive Garden. (Dad, I know what you are thinking..."I told you so!") Anyway, the salad did not have near the dressing it used it and was a bit on the dry side. And talk about a shock when I got the bill...Clay and I each got a drink, plus our two meals and a kid's ravioli...for $50?!? I really don't remember it being that expensive there before. Have they raised prices? Totally not worth it for me!

In other news, this kid LOVES to be outside!! He has mastered getting in and out of his pool and will just play around in the backyard as long as you let him! He'll also stand at the back door begging to go out! I just wish we didn't have the short set of brick stairs in the back. He loves to go up and down those, too, which require assistance from Mommy!

I see a little Larson coming out in this picture...what do you think?

This time last year...

...I was celebrating that we were down to single digits until our little guy's expected arrival. At least that is what I thought! Boy, was I wrong! Also, my feet looked like this:

THANK GOODNESS that went away!! (c:

Now, I am loving life trying to keep up with this guy!
