End of the year Safari!

Warning:  Picture overload!!

First of all, I cannot believe Connor's first year of school is over!!  He has learned so much and grown in so many ways this year.  I am so proud of my little boy!

For their end of the year party, the class has a visitor from a local pet store called Sweet Pets.  Connor loved it and had an absolute blast.  Check out all the cool animals they got to pet!

Connor in his Safari hat all ready!

First up...an Iguana!

Now a soft bunny!

A hedgehog...one of my favorites!

Hairless rat.  I could have done without this one!

The tarantula.  You couldn't pet this one, so Connor waved.

A chinchilla.  Kinda a mix of a squirrel and a mouse?  It was really soft and my other favorite.

The ferret.

And the grand finale...the SNAKE!

I don't know what possessed me to do this.  I thought maybe if I did it, Connor would?

It worked!  Mission accomplished!

He was so proud!

Everyone was cheering for him!

No...you cannot have one as a pet, Bud.

Connor and Sophie....buds since they were born 10 days apart!  (c:

What a great ending to a fabulous year!

A new hobby

After our trip to Ohio for Easter, Clay came home ready to start his new hobby:  brewing beer.  Clay brewed with Brad one afternoon when we were there, and he was hooked.  (I had to laugh the other night...he was brewing and I was sewing....something I don't think either of us would have thought we would be doing a year ago!)

Anyway, he is loving this new hobby, and he even lets me take his picture doing it.  We did a Raspberry Wheat tonight.  I am not usually a beer fan, but I have had one of those before and liked it, so he was sweet enough to pick something I might like.  (c:

Easter 2012

(Better late than never, right?!)

We had a wonderful Easter!  We went to Ohio to see our dear friends, Brad and Deanna and to meet their little man, Caden.  Caden is about two months younger than Levi.  I was so excited to meet him.  Connor loved seeing their kitties, too!  (c:

The first day there, we went to the ZOO!  Connor LOVED it!  This mama was tired after flying early with the kiddos (they were rockstar travelers as usual) and walking the zoo.  I had Levi in the Becco, and Connor insisted on walking.  I should have insisted on the stroller, but I didn't want to end up pushing an empty stroller, so I let him walk.  Probably not the best decision.  He did fine...just doesn't quite walk the pace we do!  Ha!  I walked quite a bit with Levi in the carrier and Connor on my hip.  His favorite exhibit was definitely the gorillas!  There was one that came right up to the window where he was, and he jumped into my arms!  He also got to experience his first carousal ride!

We went to the park for an Easter egg hunt the next day.  It was very crowded and there were tons of eggs.  But, I was SHOCKED to see how competitive some of these parents got.  They were hoarding eggs!!  I mean, a large overflowing basket.  Connor got two eggs.  You know what, though?  He was happy, so I was happy.  It was really sweet, though, when an older boy and his dad walked by and saw Connor's basket and gave him one of their eggs.  That made up for the hoarders!

Sunday, we went to church.  Their church is nice in that they have a "cry" room.  We sat at the back, assuming that with two babies at least one of us would have to leave.  But, leave it to the oldest kiddo to make me leave 2 minutes into the service.  I thought I was prepared.  He usually goes to kid's church at home, though, so he is not used to being in "big" church.  We talked about how you have to be quiet and practiced whispering.  As soon as church started, he started chatting in a loud voice.  I gave him "the look" and reminded him to be quiet.  His response?  "I am not yelling.  I am just talking!" This was said in a not-so-inside voice!  I figured we should go ahead and leave then since Levi was awake, too.  We still got to enjoy the service, but in a little sound proof room! (c:

The Easter bunny came when we were at church.  Connor loved his basket full of goodies, but didn't really care much about hunting eggs.  We enjoyed the day hanging out at the house, and Brad and Deanna spoiled us with a delicious Easter dinner!!  Thanks, friends, for a wonderful weekend!!

This is the only "normal" smile of the bunch!!

Before church

I was not too successful getting a pic of them all!

{six} months

Dear Levi,

Baby boy, please slow down.  I feel like I have blinked and half a year has gone by.  You have added so much joy and happiness to our family.  You are a happy little dude and have a beautiful smile.  When I took you back to daycare after your Dr. appointment today, one of the ladies there kept going on and on about how you are such a happy baby and smile at everyone.

Before I forget, you weighed in at 17 lbs 1 oz and 24 inches long.  You got three shots and an oral vaccine today, and you were MAD!  Granted, you were overdue to eat, but I figured delaying your meal slightly would be the best so you could eat and snuggle with Mommy after your shots.

Word on the street at daycare is that you have started crawling a bit.  You have not shown off this new trick for us yet, but you have been getting to crawling position a lot, and you have been practicing a few different yoga moves, too!  You are sitting pretty well, but haven't gotten yourself to sitting position yet.  You want to grab anything and everything you can reach.  You gave the nurse a run for her money today when she was trying to get all your measurements.  You also almost pulled a picture off the wall!  You stare us down if we are eating in front of us and you keep trying to steal your brother's chocolate milk.  Even though you are super interested in what we are eating, you are not a big fan of eating from a spoon. You give me some of the worst looks when I try to feed you from a spoon, so I have been giving you rice cereal with a couple of ounces of formula or milk in a bottle at dinner time.  We have done sweet potatoes a couple of times, but not sure how much you ate versus how much ended up all over you!

You love people.  I have a feeling you are going to be social.  You wake up super smiley in the mornings.  Your brother loves to come get you in the mornings and says "Good morning, Sunshine!"  He tells me he wants to go get you out of bed all by himself...ha!

Buddy, we love you so much.

Love, Mommy
